Solar Panels
Solar photovoltaic panels are one of the most popular forms of renewable technologies which can be used to generate energy. Solar PVpanels are typically made from silicon and transform the sun’s energy into a usable form. There has recently been a huge increase in demand for solar pv installs in the UK as a result of the Feed in Tariff which is a green cash incentive scheme created by the UK Government to encourage the uptake of renewable forms of electricity which, is required to meet the demanding EU targets that have been set. The surge in demand and the falling price of silicon has seen a dramatic reduction in the price of solar photovoltaic installs in the UK. Solar PV systems save you money
By installing a solar Photovoltaic system on your roof, you can save between 15 – 40% on your current annual energy bill depending on where in the UK you live. The further South you live, the more likelihood there is that you will achieve savings towards the top end of this scale. It is also worth considering the price of future energy bills which are rising sharply year on year. By installing solar pv panels on your roof, you will protect yourself from the impact of higher energy bills in the future.
Solar panels can earn you money
The UK Government’s Feed in Tariff means that if you live in England, Scotland or Wales you can earn up to 43.3p for every kWh of renewable electricity you generate from your solar photovoltaic system. The highest rate of 43.3p is awarded to the owners of retrofit solar panel installs up to a size of 4kWp. Solar pv systems that are larger than 4kWp will receive lower rates as the Feed in Tariff is designed to encourage renewable electricity generation at the small, domestic system size.
As a result of the Feed in Tariff, your solar pv system can earn you up to £1,500 a year as well as saving on your energy bill. Again, the further south you live, the more money you can earn from the electricity generated from your solar photovoltaic install. In addition to the Feed in Tariff for electricity generation, you can earn an export tariff of 3p for every kWh of electricity you generate and do not use as this electricity is fed back into the national grid. The current Feed in Tariff system allows you to claim up to 50% of your solar pv electricity generation on a deemed basis. This means that you can earn the export tariff on 50% of the electricity you generate even if you use more than 50% of the electricity that your solar pv system generates. However, this will change in a few years time when you will be required to meter the amount of electricity you put back in to the grid from your solar photovoltaics.
MCS Accreditation
Some people may have concerns about the quality of electrician who installs their solar pv system. As a result, the MCS accreditation was created. To register your solar panel system, it must have been installed by an MCS accredited installer if the system is under 50kWp in size. HiS Group is a fully accredited installer and ensures all of it’s certified electricians are fully trained and certified to install your pv system.
